Hey Buddy don't sit there
Hey Buddy don't sit there
This one is just another adventure in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum during the golden years of the Coliseum and Arena Ticket Service. Before we acquired our season seats in section C occasionally BC would hook Greg and I up with a little deal called "Lost Seat Location." What this really amounted to was the ticket manager (who was a pal of the old ticket broker) would write a slip that was intended for an unfortunate season ticket holder who had forgotten his paper tickets but had paid for the privilege of attending a Ram game. When the ticket manager had unsold seats he could just write the lost seat location and still count the seats as unused plus do a favor for his broker bro. So, it was a good league game and the place was pretty full with Greg and I fired up for some Gabe-led Ram football. It was a fairly warm afternoon and we we just reaching the lost seats and a very helpful fan grabbed me by the shoulder as I bent to take a seat and said "hey buddy, don't sit there...some guy has been sick" I then looked over and the two intended seats were literally covered with puke with some splash over onto other fans feet and concrete floor. I mean we were seconds away from plopping down in a drunk's sour beer hash but managed to scramble back up to an usher who was kind enough to eventually allow us to squat in an empty camera well and enjoy football. The topper was when we settled in we heard some hubbub from the section and spotted a wobbly, barf-stained inebriate heading down the stairs toward the fouled seats. It was the puker and he was carrying a cardboard caddy with four (4!) beers to reload what he had spewed on the seats. Outraged shouts rang out from the crowd "GET HIM OUT OF HERE!" and "NO WAY MAN!" Especially, the vomited on nearby fans were not about to put up with this bum. Quickly cops showed and when the jerk resisted he was handcuffed and the last sight we had of the dumb-ass he was trying to fight the cops with his elbows. Good times in the Coliseum. 🤮
