Greg Goes to the Movies
Greg Goes to the Movies
This one is not exactly an anecdote but a list of the films loved by Greg who was big screen passionate as a young man and motion picture crabby as an old man. I went to many a movie with the guy that included trips to La Habra's Fashion Square, a foray to the Fox Inglewood, time machines to the Vogue on Long Beach blvd., midnight shows at the Fox Westwood, lining up for big ones at the Bruin, acid-aided at General Cinema (known as GC) and smoking cigs on the left side of the Fox Venice. Two of the very best things about the developing Greg was his thirst for knowledge and his proper behavior in a theater. You would never hear him talk out loud, shout requests to the stage, pass wind in a crowded section or laugh too loud. The man eschewed eating popcorn and spoke harshly of anyone who did except children. When he was a kid he like "flicks" or "necco wavers" but as an adult he was there to watch a film not have lunch. There are countless stories that take place before, during or after moviegoing but here are some of the films the man loved forever in no particular order. I rarely went to the movies with him after 1990 so the list may be skewed in that backwards direction. Lissy would know the 21st century better than I. Feel free to add picks
