Thanks for the haircut McHatton!
Thanks for the haircut McHatton!
This goes back to Greg's high school sports experiences and his frustrating time with petty dictator coaches. I believe it was baseball season when the dumbass coach McHatton insisted the players all get buzz cuts to show team solidarity. Greg was committed to sports so he followed orders but star player Mike Pagnotta was not as pliant about the silly order. The team got to travel somewhere that allowed them some social time and the possibility of meeting some girls on their road trip. It may have been Catalina island but as the boys strolled the streets filled with possible romance they were getting zero encouragement from the ladies. Pagnotta, abashed by the silly look of his close-cropped skull barked out the words "thanks for the haircut McHatton!" True to his poetic soul Greg took the phrase and at first just repeated it for fun. Later he began to use it for any condition beyond his control that made life harder for him. It meant you were embarassed and held back by some stupidity. The line further transformed to express any disappointing event. i.e. you show up 20 minutes late for a meetup to go to dinner "Thanks for the haircut McHatton!"
