Getting Yucky before easter
WARNING! this post deals with sexual situations.
This story comes from my brother's late wife and involves the sexual attitudes of boomer women who were good Catholics. One of her in-laws in her first marriage told her of an intimate moment that took place on Easter Sunday before the family was to head off for mass. We were all connected by a common Catholic thread and were offered a rather twisted view of sex by the priests and nuns who schooled us in our formative years. Yet the woman was acting in a more practical way to the demands of a husband who requested "the marriage act" upon awakening on the very morning of Christ's resurrection. It is my guess that he looked down at his morning wood and thought "he is risen" just as it was to be announced at mass. The aroused hubby cuddled with his wife but she denied him his pleasure on this holy holiday. Instead she rebuked him saying she did not want to get "all yucky before Easter." While it is the wife's prerogative to refuse the marital embrace at any time it is telling about her attitude of the act that it might be described as "yucky" Then again, this is from a person who recieved instruction from the religious orders that also described masturbation as "daily suicide" or "the solitary vice" and insisted that making love between loving couples be done only for the procreation of children. Apparently, many a Catholic family of nine kids was achieved with lots of intent and no fears of committing mortal sins. From official doctrine that most of us left behind "Examples of intrinsically disordered sexual acts include: masturbation, homosexual acts, any sexual acts with more than two participants, oral sex, anal sex, manual sex, sexual acts involving objects or devices, etc." These activities are "intrinsically and gravely disordered."
