Rich tapestry

Rich tapestry

This has been touched on before but it was a central tenet in Greg's life after his successful career, marriage, home and raising of two fine children. He looked around and most of his dreams had come true as he sat in his leather chair free of tragedy and appreciating the good luck that had allowed him to live blissfully contented. He fully recognized his good fortune and was thankful to luck and not God that he had found his way to a paradise on earth.

“We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.” - Maya Angelou

Greg had lived through the ignorance that was around us during our youth and welcomed new experiences and rejected repression of people and the spirit of good people. Even though he cursed mightily the hypocrisy of religion and patriotism he also embraced the full experience of life we saw in our travels around the city of the angels. He was OK with gay people, he actually was delighted by their creative spirit and sense of style. He did not blink an eye at the incredible expressions of sexuality we got to read about on this internet thing. He loved the over the top drawings of Tom of Finland and the caftans worn by his florist friends Don and Denny who gave him his moniker "Greggo!"  I never, ever had to hold back any bizarre human activity I found in my relentless search for human absurdity. This included all manner of victimless fetishes and happy hedonism. The rich tapestry as Kathleen explained it so well at his service was all about Greg being grateful to be a part of this journey through real life Disneyland we all got to take.  He did not close his eyes during this trip through the Matterhorn toboggan ride. He laughed with his head thrown back. In photos he might look serious sometimes but those dark eyes were always admiring what they saw in the great family and friends he had in his too short life.
