Management by Drucker

Management by Drucker

This may seem like an odd connection but in the synapses of Greg Sheehy there were many a strange and marvelous imaginings of disparate subjects. "Management by Drucker!" was something he would shout when building and maintaining a fire in his prized fireplace on Francis. He really was great at getting any fireplace roaring and he had a system that worked time and time again. It worked because he systematically approached the job with attention to crisp detail. It involved layering of newspaper, a precise cross stacking of the wood and occasionally an addition of pine cones or a beautiful piece of fatwood that guaranteed a fully engaged fire in short order. Later at the exact moment of need he would jostle the remnants and toss another chunk of wood into the glowing coals.  He considered the entire process to be guided by his readings of the works of Peter F. Drucker who wrote extensively about business management. When Greg took on his MBA he rediscovered the works of Drucker and thought he was wise and easy to read. So in his adherence to strict fire starting protocol he remembered the words of Drucker and shouted his best known work "Management" by Drucker." I must say I enjoyed many a Greg built cozy fire in the delightfully warm Francis front room in chilly weather. Lissy also found happiness warming her backside in front of thousands of these well managed creations.  Greg knew his 4 high by 4 wide cords of hardwood, he cherished his fatwood and he stayed true to the management style of Peter F. Drucker.
