Andy Anderson

Andy Anderson

This one is from Creason family lore and was repeated for many decades at Christmastime.  It was when we lived at 9230 Annetta and my grandma was still alive but frail.  Mike McGraw was there as a newlwed to Cheryl having fun with his Navy buddy Slick. My guess is it was 1966 or 1967. The tree was an atrocity (we will visit that part later) but the very early Xmas eve celebration was underway with lots of packages being opened and holiday spirit consumed. To carry the empty boxes and plentiful wrapping out to the trash the front door was standing wide open. It was a Merry Xmas! Suddenly, we all were startled by a complete stranger standing in the middle of the front room who bellowed "MERRY CHRISTMAS, I'M ANDY ANDERSON!!!  Andy was thoroughly sozzled but fully into the spirit of the night. However, BC directed his strong son Stephen and son-in-law Mike to escort Mr. Anderson back out to his automobile, still running in front of the house. To show his deep involvement in Christmas spirits Andy pulled forward, finding himself behind a parked car, whereupon he honked at the empty car to move out of his way. To this day we toast Andy Anderson at Creason Christmas eve celebrations and have done so at a few Sheehy Christmas fetes on Francis.
